Pros and cons +5 −4

  • Monero-native marketplace — XMR is the settlement currency, not fiat
  • Optional client-side 2-of-3 multisig escrow — XmrBazaar never holds funds
  • No email or ID required at signup; KYC explicitly refused by policy
  • Tor mirror available; PGP-encrypted messaging between users
  • Endorsed by KYCnot.me, Monero Ecosystem and Monerica; 7,000+ users
  • Marketplace codebase not open-source — only a verification Gist is public
  • Still formally in beta; no formal audit
  • Per-seller scam risk is real — reputation can be faked and only partially policed
  • XMR-only settlement excludes buyers who don't already hold Monero

By NoKYCZone Editorial Published Last reviewed How we score

XmrBazaar is a peer-to-peer classifieds marketplace paid in Monero, launched by the Monero Talk podcast community and publicly open since 2024. It is not a swap service — it is a bulletin board where buyers and sellers post listings for physical goods, digital goods and services, settling in XMR between themselves, with optional multisig escrow for trades that need it.

How it works

Publishing a listing or placing an order requires an account, but sign-up is a handle-and-password affair with no email disclosed as mandatory and no identity check at any point. Each listing includes seller terms, reputation metadata and a PGP key for encrypted messaging. For higher-stakes trades, the site can generate a client-side 2-of-3 multisig escrow in the browser with a user-chosen mediator — keys stay on the participants' machines, XmrBazaar never touches funds.

KYC & privacy

XmrBazaar's terms explicitly state that KYC will never be requested. Transports are Tor-friendly (a .onion mirror is maintained), IPs are not logged, no third-party analytics are present, and all communication can be PGP-encrypted end-to-end. The only Monero addresses the platform ever sees are the ones the user freely reveals inside a listing or a message.

Strengths and limits

The marketplace has grown to 7,000+ registered users and 11,000+ listings as of late 2025 / early 2026, and is endorsed by KYCnot.me, Monero Ecosystem and Monerica. The trade-off: it is still formally beta, the marketplace codebase itself is not open-source (only a social-verification Gist is published), and as on any P2P marketplace individual sellers can scam or fake reputation — the site maintains an on-site scam-reports forum and bans confirmed scammers, but buyers should treat reputation as advisory rather than guaranteed.

Verdict

At 8.2/10 with a KYC level rated anonymous (L1), XmrBazaar is the closest thing the Monero ecosystem currently has to a Craigslist that settles in private digital cash. It is not an exchange and not a swap — it is a classifieds board with a native XMR settlement layer, multisig escrow when it matters, and community roots in the podcast that first rallied around Monero as a payment tool.
